Gladhouse Reservoir is in a beautiful location with woodland round its shores and views of the nearby Moorfoot Hills to the south and the distant Pentland Hills.  As we passed by on the Gladhouse Circuit the sheep were taking no notice of the Pink-footed Geese which were grazing in fields. The recent hard frosts and snow had made the wet fields easy to walk through but in places the road beside the reservoir was covered in sheet ice and there was still evidence of snow drifts beside the farm track.  The seat (extra) at the anglers’ pontoon made a good place for a picnic and sheltered from the wind by the trees.  It had been a good and easy 8 km walk with sunshine for much of the time.
