Eastern lady ....

My mum and dad met and married 62 years ago in Malaya as it was then. Dad was a rubber plantation manager and mum a nurse and they met in quite romantic circumstances getting engaged some 3 months after meeting. As Dad lived 70 miles away they only saw each other about six times between engagement and wedding and when mum went out to see him Dad sent an armed driver to collect her as it was during the height of the Malayan communist uprising. Dad had lived there about 9 years at this time ( since the end of WW2) and he brought some wonderful things to our home which included 2 heads carved I think from teak. They actually come from Bali. I grew up with these always on display and love them ...the woman in particular. Mum also has carved mahogany blanket chests as well ....both woods which are not so common today.
