Scorpion Fly

The meadow areas around the university are left to grow at this time of the year and they are beautiful - a mass of buttercups and clover. My extra photo shows the sea of yellow flowers. The insects that are in the meadows are numerous and varied. I liked this posing Scorpion fly. Their heads are very odd with a long beak-like structure. This was my best picture but doesn't show the full glory of the insect.
