Worn out and wonderful steps going down to the beach. The tide was quite high for our walk this morning, so I came back along the boardwalk. Usually at 8 in the morning it's pretty quiet, but today was all a-bustle with preparations for the annual Clam Chowder Cookoff. Participants were lugging in all manner of goods: pop-up awnings, tables, stoves, pots, groceries. Wagons and grandchildren piled high with equipment, lots of shouting and laughing and running around. We went to the tastings one year, and it was fun to sample the variety of things broadly called clam chowder, but the crowds are too crazy thick for our comfort so we'll skip this one. Plenty of weeding to keep me occupied at home, and we're putting in another apple tree and need to clear a spot along the fence.Summer weather continues.
