Garajau

It's been a super morning in Madeira again.

Trevor, Ros, some more friends and I went on a morning trip out to the Sunday market in Santo da Serra. We started off by going to see the statue of Christ the King (blipped a few times already)

Down below the Cristo Rei is the Garajau marine nature reserve. You can only get down on foot or using a cable car. There's a restaurant of considerable note down there and I'm curious (one for another trip). I've blipped the view down there.

We went on via Canical, the airport, the viewpoint above Machico and finally Ponta Sao Lourenco. I'm hoping Trevor or Ros will blip these spectacular views (and I've done them before - terrific place)

Finally, the market. A mixture of great fruit, veg and flowers and total tat (reminding us of the subsistence existence of so many in this poor and hardworking community. )

If you ever visit, look out for the queijada de maracuja (passion fruit cheesecake).
