Nature Reserve management - peace and tranquility

Today has been warm and sunny. Our small group of seven volunteers have spent it "pulling bracken" at a local nature reserve. Apparently if you keep pulling the bracken every year for seven years it is less likely to grow again. It's all about managing the reserve for its diversity of wildlife. It is, after all, a National Nature Reserve.

Oh well, only another 190 hectares to go!

This is our lunch break, during a day spent in the peace and tranquility of this beautiful place, far from the madding crowd.

OK, such things don't suit everyone ... but it makes me very happy indeed.
