Remember Me and Smile

A couple of months ago Mr B died suddenly. Mr B was the much loved Teaching Assistant in this class, was 23 years old and the son of the Deputy Head. He had been a pupil at the school and volunteered here throughout his teenage years and then became a TA.

These pupils leave school next week to go on to High School and I have been working with them to design and paint a storyteller's chair to leave to the school as a celebration of Mr B's life.

We spent yesterday morning talking about their memories of him, thought about how they felt when they were with him and what sort of message he would want to pass on to children in the school who would never know him. I was incredibly impressed by their emotional intelligence and their willingness to share their stories and memories with a relative stranger.

The chair celebrates Mr B's humour, love of dressing up, love of sport and Blackburn Rovers, his ability to make children feel safe and push themselves to do their best and love life.

We have had a lovely couple of days together and will be together tomorrow to finish off and Mrs B will be adding her mark to the chair.
