Stuff and Nonsense

Leave my nuts alone....!!!

Another beautiful morning and another beautiful walk.
Even colder this morning, but it was still great to be out - bracing I think it's called ;)
We headed over towards Inversnaid which is on the banks of Loch Lomond, but not where we thought it was. At least it was not where we had been before and to be honest there wasn't much there, so we were soon looking for somewhere else to go.
The road was closed between 11am and 1pm, and there is no other way in and out, so we were so fortunate to find the pier café at the end of Loch Katrine open. After a lunch of brie and bacon ciabatta, it was perfectly timed to head back up the road.
On the way back, we stopped at the Lodge visitor centre just outside Aberfoyle where we went for a great little walk to the waterfall and the wildlife hide.
Here there was an abundance of woodland birds and some cheeky red squirrels who kept pinching the nuts from the bird feeders.
It was comical to watch the blue tits dive bombing the squirrels to try and get them to leave. Of course the squirrels were having none of it.

Despite the centre saying that the bird feeders were visited daily by the woodpeckers, we did not see any, but I was lucky enough in the morning to see (and hear) a couple up by the church. They were very handsome birds.
