Two meals cooked, cooled and now in the freezer, ready to be packed in the car tomorrow morning after work and eaten over the weekend. I'm off to Coniston with a different mountaineering club, to a different club hut, the weather forecast is promising and I'm looking forward to it... and maybe, just maybe, I won't be the only female in the hut this time!
Last night I went to Buxton to listen to a talk by Catherine Destivelle, a brilliant French climber, but unfortunately I'd seen nearly all the film clips on YouTube already. The warm-up talk was more enjoyable than the main - Anna Wells, a young, up and coming climber, speaking in public for the first time. (I thought I'd better put on my best trousers, heels and a nice top to go to this event, but obviously I haven't a clue because everyone else was in trainers, climbing trousers, fleeces and down jackets....... )
In September there will be a talk at the same venue by Dervla Murphy, whose books I read avidly in the past, but I'm not at all sure that the journey of over an hour on winding country roads will encourage me to go and listen.
I went to the gym today and because I'm finding that almost half of the equipment is likely to aggravate my shoulders I've decided to cancel my membership. There's no point in paying the monthly fee just for my legs, which are already strong. Oh well, you have to try these things.
p.s. no apologies for the grainy photo :-)
