Ladies who Paint

Left to Right:  Joy, Sonia, Gill and Jenny, met at an art class several years ago and now meet up occasionally to paint together.  When Sonia was asked to organise the colour scheme for a two conference rooms in Coventry City Council's Enterprise House, she asked her three friends to help and over four days they  produced art works based on the industrial history of Coventry. Yesterday was the presentation when the councillor and some of the officers responsible for supporting local businesses came to see what they had done.

This is them with one of the art works, a Triumph Roadster, with the outline masked off and paint splatter from balloons providing the colours.  There are two others based on the Church Spires left standing after the blitz and an Elephant from the Coventry coat of arms.

The colours come from the old Courtaulds catalogue as they had a factory in the city and this was once their staff canteen.

Ladies who paint is what our daughter called them when the classes stopped and they decided to carry on painting in each other's houses, they also lunch :-)
