B2

This morning the second Engineer noticed some water coming out of the Port Side Main Engine before starting. Water is supposed to circulate inside the engine and not outside. After inspection it appeared that cylinderhead B2 was leaking water at the stem of the valve. The only solution to fix this is to replace the complete cylinderhead. Lucky enough we are not towing and have two main engines, so switching one off for maintenance or repairs is not a problem at all. In the middle of this picture you can see the new cylinderhead ready and waiting to be installed. At the time you read this, everything is up and running again.
