Plus ça change...

I found this drawing of mine (aged 4) among some old family letters. 

My father has described the work on the back as "haystack house with cats and other creatures and fungi". I think the animals that look like ants must be sheep. I acted as a sheep dog when we needed to drive them out of places where they should not be.

I used to help my father fodder the cattle every morning. As I remember, the hay was just piled in the barn but there must have been stacks too: no bales then, indeed few if any tractors where we lived.

Cats and fungi have been fixtures all my life.
