Sunset from Monument a Colom

We began the day at the National Museum of Catalonia. There were some striking frescoes rescued from decaying country churches, displayed as if they were still on church walls. But also we enjoyed some of the 20th century paintings and furniture. There was also a striking view from the roof. Compared to the throngs the previous day the enormous gallery was deserted.

After lunch we moved on in time to the almost contemporary and generally more abstract Miro - at his 'foundation'. Then back to the hotel, but before we called it a day we took the very small lift up Columbus's Column to catch the sunset over the hill we had come from (that is the National Gallery on the left of the picture. (There are extras too).
