Cambridge History Festival

I have spent a delightful evening with friends, watching a slideshow and listening to fascinating stories about 'Cambridge In The Good Old Days.' It was lovely to see the shops, cinemas and  dance venues that were part of our growing up years. Now long gone !  Commentary by Derek Smiley and Fonz Chamberlain a local historian. I also met Allan Brigham, Chairman of 'Friends Of Cambridge Museum' ( Folk museum) He has a unique perspective on all things Cambridge. For 30 years he swept our streets clean and is now a Blue Badge Tourist Guide and historian. He was given an honorary MA degree for the work he has done on opening up the city to the people who live here. My friend Babs and her husband Mike were thrilled to see their picture come up on the screen when they were cheering at a performance on stage, in the Regal,  by the new young group The Beatles. I also saw a picture of our old bowling alley on Mill Road, where I played in a team. A free glass of wine finished off the evening nicely.
