Sloy Power Station

On our last full day in the Trossachs we drove to Inversnaid, a remote spot on the eastern side of Loch Lomond.

Sloy Hydro-Electric power station is directly across the loch from Inversnaid. It was built between 1945 and 1949 so it's getting on a bit now. It's kept in standby mode most of the time but can be turned up to its full power output within five minutes to cope with surges in demand for electricity - like when all the kettles are turned on at half time in the Cup Final.
