Water Tower

Mono Monday is celebrated with a landscape photo of the Pin Green Water Tower. Many years ago, the council were lighting beacons all across the country to commemorate some jubilee or other. Our beacon was placed at the top of the water tower so that it could be seen in Cumbria.  We all gathered at the base of this monstrosity waiting for the mayor to light the beacon.  It was a bit breezy on the ground and even windier at the top of the tower.  They lit the flame and it proceeded to blow back all over the place. The officials were standing on a tiny ledge and there weren't many places to go to get away from the vicious flames. We very nearly had toasted mayor for tea. Down on the safety of the ground, we all found it highly amusing, but I doubt the mayor and co shared our enjoyment.
