We still have lots of rocks that didn't fall down in the earthquake, and remained well embedded through the succession of aftershocks that we have had.
I am still a bit upset about the shattered rocks at the top of the Britten Reserve that were broken up in case they might become dislodged and roll down the hill.  It will take many, many years for the sharp edges to wear away, and for these damaged rocks to acquire the lichen mantle of the others.
