Spawn

A couple of years ago we enlarged our small garden pond, in the hope that it might prove suitable for tadpoles and frogs. Last year we did have some tadpoles, and we have seen one or two frogs. But yesterday we counted 14 active toads- at least we think they were toads- all over the surface of the pond, and each other. For some unknown reason I looked at them from the bedroom window through binoculars, and didn't even think of my camera. And today- no toads to be seen, but this spawn.
