Blue Damsel Fly

When this fly buzzed close to my face I thought it was a dragon. It is a damsel fly, of course, but at 46mm it is almost 20mm larger than the red damsel flies that I usually see. Austrolestes colensonis, a native of New Zealand.

Sorry I’ve been missing for several days. I’m still not right and will be keeping a low profile for a while. The gaps have been filled.

I’m delighted to see the pure new Blipfoto.
