Voyage of a Beagle & Lab

By Inez

Funny sort of day - caught a fainting woman at work, lots of laughter over a display we were putting up (lots of interest too - there's a chance of winning a case of wine!) but everything over shadowed by the uncertainty over jobs and the demise of the mobile library. Funding cuts mean that the mobile was to be taken off the road at the end of March but when it broke down it was decided that the cost of the part together with the time it was going to take meant that it came to a bit of a damp squid of an ending - no last farewell outing just a limp to the depot and today spent removing books. Seems a sad ending for a much loved service that's going to missed by many old and vulnerable people in the community. There were other facilities marked for closure in an effort to save money but as these would have resulted in empty buildings that would have been an embarrassment to the Council the funds were found to keep them open, only those who use the mobile will notice that it's no longer there and who notices the old and vulnerable?
