Goodbye Summer

It is now officially autumn and to underline it, the days have suddenly developed a chill in the air morning and night. The smell of hops drying lingers on the air and leaves are scattered across the grass.

I walked through the heavy dew at the Rose Garden this morning and could see that most plants had nearly finished flowering. Things are starting to look tatty as autumn moves in.

This rose  with its last remaining petal  hanging limply is part of the change.
