Kettwig is 'quaint', picturesque enough that in summer the tourists flood in to admire the altstadt's black and white timbered buildings and hog all the outdoor seating at the numerous eiscafés. The council has clearly received too many complaints about the state of the cobbled high street (a couple of years ago it was so very, very hot that some of the cobbles popped out) so this summer the tourists are getting treated to this, perfect timing, the main street shut in one direction, there will be chaos.
Cobblestones, by the way are 'Pflasterstein' and 'to cobble a road' is 'eine Straße pflastern' - just in case you ever need to know...
