Ascending Kukas

That speck in the sky is a helicopter. It just happened to fly over when we'd struggled up the steepest part of the ascent and could stop to look around without the risk of sliding back down to the bottom, or being mown down by somebody descending out of control.
We've been up Kukas several times over the years on skis and snowshoes. This time felt borderline sensible. We saw 3 other people while we were going over the summit, the track was blown out, and it was very difficult to see where the track should be because the light was so flat and grey. And finally, on the easy glide off after the steepest section, there was a tree down right across the track.
A good, if exciting, finish to the last day's skiing.
