Swanage's Lifeboat Station (under construction)

The older station, built in 1875, has been demolished and a replacement station is necessary in order to house a new lifeboat.  Work has been under way for about a year; the new waterjet-propelled Shannon Class lifeboat (costing £1,500,000) is to be delivered next month.

The roof timbering for the new station has just been installed.  A new slipway also needs to be constructed.
