Hopeton01 - "Eat Ye All of It"

These are the words uttered by Minister just before people consume the items seen in today's blip.

Ritualised eating/ drinking is featured in all of the major religions. In the Seventh-Day Adventist church (Protestant Christian, established c1860), a Communion Service is celebrated every 13 weeks. Like the Jews, they worship on Saturdays (Sabbath) - hence this post today.

Again, as in all religions, each element consumed is symbolic of an event or of a person; for Adventists, the unleavened bread represents the broken body of Christ on the cross and the (non-alcoholic! ) wine, His shed blood. This eating ritual is preceded by another ritual - the washing of another person's feet. The whole process reminds believers of their need to be humble, to resolve differences and that whatever good they enjoy in life should be reflected in sincere thanks to the One that made Life possible at all.

It's been a privilege to visit diverse places of worship, including churches, mosques, synagogues  & temples and to appreciate the importance of ritual to each, according to their custom.
