Goodbye To The Shonky-Wonky Tree

You might remember this but probably not.

The front garden of the house was rubbish looking and so we set about it this morning.  And I have to say it was a very therapeutic 3 and a half hours to clear this smal patch.

It was also a pretty neat way of getting to know all the neighbours.

Absolutely everyone had an opinion on the poor tree - said opinion was pretty universal "better gone".

A neighbour lent us a saw and that took the crown off.  We dug out the roots and got rid of all the posts (said neighbour very happy to the tree trunk to use as firewood as well as the posts for a friend).  And then it was case of save what was save-able and in the Bio-rubbish with the rest.

There wasn't very much worth saving.

We're going to plant a little hedge to the front as you see (with some more of those bushes).  Behind will be grass with some wildflower seeds mixed in and we're going to plant a little Mirabelle tree (that won't have to grow at a stupid angle).

The difference in the soil quality between the front garden and back is huge.  In front it's really ace and in the back it's all clay.
