Long walk

Today me, Mr Husband and our collection of dogs took advantage of the glorious Orkney day. There was not even a hint of a breeze, the skies were mostly blue and the temperature was a balmy 14 degrees.

We walked from Skaill to Billiacrue which is a whole 8 miles of epic clifftop views. This shot was taken after we had walked up and beyond from Skaill, the dome shaped lump of land in the lower left is the Broch of Borwick - the remains of an iron age defensive tower. The tiny buildings center bottom are the old war buildings at Yesnaby. We trudged over all the remaining lumps of land and up on to the Black Craig before descending to the car park. Hoy and the Old Man loom in the distance dwarfing everything.

Extra shot added from the approach to the Black Craig, the sea mist was adding an ethereal feel to the cliffs.

Now to crack open a cider, make a pizza and enjoy the stillness of tired dogs!
