Quod oculus meus videt

The Avenue at Chillington

A glorious spring like day for a long walk.  We started along this avenue, which runs for over 2 miles from just outside the village of Coven to Chillington Hall.  It is now hard to imagine the horse drawn carriages progressing up the avenue in this section, which has been taken over by trees.  Once it crosses Port Lane after about a mile it widens out into a true spectacle with the Hall in the distance.

The green area in the mid distance is a bridge over a local canal.  The bridge is not your typical canal type, rather than a parapet it is topped with stone balustrades!
