Was It Really So Long Ago

Thrill Seekers

Yesterday, we launched our quest for a new front door. We started with the best known, well rated supplier, which was closed. The second, was closed. The third had apparently gone out of business. There wasn't going to be a fourth that day.

So today, I suggested we headed to the garden centre to kill two birds: a steam train ride and finding someone at the windows doors and conservatories showroom, in the hope that failing one, we'd catch the other. In the end, we triumphed at both. But judging by the expressions on the kids faces, they had more fun running in and out of the display loggias, orangeries and conservatories than riding the train! In fairness to them, sitting waiting for a train to leave is never a thrill, however much Dad might pull faces at them from behind the camera (I've tried joke telling before, but the only fruit that bore was withering looks).

A light lunch, a snooze in the car for Master H outside Sainsbury's (Dad had to wait with him - that's my boy) and home for Dad's roast beef.
