Agapanthus does so well in New Zealand that it is commonly seen in gardens and roadside installations that need little or no maintenance.
Here in our garden, we have white and several shades of blue and come autumn they are inclined to make their own proliferating arrangements so it pays to take control and whip off their seed heads before the garden becomes overrun.
