The first time I spotted this bowl on the sideboard was through bleary-eyes one morning, compounded by the absence of spectacles.  I took it to be some exotic snack left over from Christmas.  Apparently not; although I might be forgiven the mistake.  Among other things  Pot-pourri is a French word for a Spanish stew.
