and lugubriously back again

Whilst it is easy to predict that it would be easier to go for the nearby bus stop then trick them into eagerly walking the half-mile to the museum by going through gardens and up steps than it would have been to go the bus stop three-quarters of a mile away to get the bus which stops outside the museum it wasn't so easy to get the one which can walk at a reasonable pace when he decides to to walk the mile from the playpark to the return version of the same bus stop, which resulted in me having to carry both of them for some stretches in order to get home in time for supper, though the late lunch after the museum couldn't have all been used up by the relatively gentle playing. I thought we'd been lucky to be able to just catch the bus which was at the stop but it turned out to be a part-route aberration, resulting in more carryings of both of them whilst we were passed by three full-route buses on the three-quarters of a mile back to the house. Also a cause of consternation during the day was the closure of the bit of the museum on the first floor where the Volcano Film could be viewed, possibly Edgar's favourite museum-thing ever since his first visit on the day the old but re-opened. The museum has not yet replied to say if the film will still be viewable when the section resumes visitability.
