Earth Hour

While Miss Flum went out to observe her place of work and Mr Flum walked round the houses, checking the participation in Earth Hour, I got on with the soup I had planned to make, illuminated by a couple of candles.

This elegant menorah was used during our annual Christmas Carol Concerts, which coincided with the time of Hannuka. Borrowed from a retired Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament Studies known to Mr Flum's father, it was always Mr Flum who collected, cleaned and returned it whilst I sourced the candles. When he died his family donated the menorah to the choir, with ourselves as custodians. Now the choir is disbanded it lives with us, and, as we still have a large supply of the candles, it proved very useful tonight.

After lunch we went to the Botanics as Mr Flum wanted to see the advertised Caravan Obscura after which we enjoyed refreshment in the pop-up cafe (the Terrace Cafe is under refurbishment), watched a buzzard soar over our heads and admired the profusion of Spring flowers with bumblebees covered in pollen - see extra photos.
