Spring ... sort of

Supposedly it's the first day of spring today. We've had spring-like weather for a month already, so to celebrate its official arrival we've had two days of drizzly rain.

Today's choir practice was in an entirely new venue, a very swish wine-growing chateau graciously lent to us along with its resident grand piano. It doesn't qualify for Derelict Sunday because all of the many buildings including this little chapel have been tastefully renovated. The room we rehearsed in is used for concerts and has lovely acoustics.

Most of us were fully expecting a disastrous rehearsal because due to budget constraints this final weekend is the first time we have rehearsed with the accompanist. Who is also a new-to-us pianist of only 18, and as far as I know has never accompanied a choir before. What could possibly go wrong??

Well, in fact it went amazingly smoothly, to the extent that we even finished early. Feeling a lot better about the concerts now.
