Getting the sparkle back

(Almost) deserted beach

If you look closely, you should be able to see two figures near the far end of the beach - and of course we were there too. East Lothian has some lovely beaches but I often think that if we had the right weather, they would be jam-packed with people. So in some ways, it's good that we have the weather we have, particularly on days when we do get the right weather.

This walk was memorable for the fact that we were able to walk between Yellowcraig and Gullane along the coast. For several years this wasn't possible because of a high fence round the Archerfield Estate and an overgrown thicket of sea buckthorn. D, J and I had an unforgettable experience when we got on the wrong side of the fence...

I had my first ice cream of the year towards the end of the walk - Luca's of Musselburgh - which takes some beating.

Other notable attractions today included two small propellor planes taking off from a grass air strip only feet from where we were watching.
