Dawn in Pyongyang

This is Pyongyang at dawn looking down the Taedong River which runs through the city.  The shot is taken from my hotel room in the Yanggakdo International Hotel which is home to most foreign tourists visiting Pyongyang.  The city center is on the left and the structure to the right is the Juche Tower (named after the Juche ideology introduced by Kim il-Sung).  It's a serene setting with only the occasional hoots or rumbles from passing trucks, trains or boats.  It's remarkable too for the absence of advertising boards and other lights.  I've added a multitude of additional blips today.  Such a unique experience and so many more to show.

Post blip (Nov 2016):  Vitaly Mansky's documentary, Under the Sun, was released this year.  Highly recommended viewing.
