Still frozen

I was surprised to see people playing hockey on the Patriach's Ponds this evening (the figures in the distance).  The river is in full flow in most places but this patch of water in the center of Moscow is still frozen.  The pond (only one of the original three ponds remains though the feature retains its plural name) is apparently about two meters deep so one might walk out if the ice broke.

Tomorrow I leave for Iran.
