Angkor Temples

Yesterday after saying goodbye to Dean, we visited the Angkor Museum to gain some history and info on the temples. The museum was huge, and gave us info overload but was a good insight to what we got to see today.

We arrived at 5:30am in the dark along with another 500 people to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat. It was a beautiful morning, a little hazy from the pollution but no clouds so we got some nice photos. We spent two hours exploring this giant wonder before joining our tuk tuk driver again. The temples are so far apart and given the 40 degree heat, we hired a tuk tuk driver for the day and he dropped us off at each temple and waited for us to explore. It was pretty awesome being driven around all day, we felt like VIP's much better than a group tour.

Next we saw Angkor Thom, which has many temples inside its walled city but Bayon being the most famous. This was Cameron's favourite with all the faces. We had a great morning and loved seeing this amazing part of Cambodian history. It was up there with Tikal and Machu Picchu on our trip. By 11am it was too hot to function and all the temples started to blur into each other so we returned home for a well earned nap.
