The Morning after the Night Before

Two days a week in the morning, a bus come into the village, saving His Lordship and me a half mile trek up to the main road.
Sandend with no shops is the kind of village that lends itself to car ownership; having none, means relying on buses as there are no pavements on the main busy road to the nearest towns of Portsoy and Cullen.

Cullen was the first stop for the bus before it turned round and headed back east to Portsoy and Macduff and Cullen suited our mood today.
The intake of fermented grape in Elgin last night precluded any indulgence in scones this morning, and while His Lordship was happy to sit overlooking the harbour with his paper, I did a circuit of the town with my camera.

The most interesting part of the town is the old Seatown village down on the shore where the houses are all higgledy piggledy, packed closely together and dominated by the sea on one side and the huge viaduct at the back which once carried the railway line.

End on to the elements on the seaward side is this row of cottages which I always love to photograph especially if I can get them free of parked cars. There would have been a bonus if the sun had been out, because they cast lovely shadows on the road.
Unfortunately the sun was elsewhere today, although ever grateful for small mercies, it was a very calm still day, and dry too. It would be greedy to ask for more.
