Growing old disgracefully

LEAVING WORK

It was a  bit of bad planning to have a busy work day following three days away from home leading residential teacher training, but it's been a fruitful day and I feel good as I leave work.  I don't think I'll tire quickly of the mill building where I work either.  Today I met someone who had worked here, loading bobbins into machines that dipped them in dye. Her perspective was enlightening.  The work was certainly hard and the hours long, but the pay was good, there was a great social life and a security hard to find today with zero hours contracts, etc.  She earns less now in real terms than she did 30 years ago.

Off now for three whole days!  What will I do with myself?
