Box elder

Box elder, or Acer negunda, was often planted round homesteads and is now found mainly along riversides and streams. These are male catkins.
We had a good freeze this morning and the daffodils looked pretty sorry for themselves. When it warmed up later and the sun came out most of them stood up. It is amazing how well they recover if they are left alone.
