Lousy weather, Great day

Yes, we did that trip that I mentioned yesterday. Virtually dry run up from Gloucester to Wellesbourne (Near Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire) but very windy and got pushed about a little. On the way back it was a bit wetter but not bad but got pushed about a lot more as the wind had picked up considerably. Bike performed beautifully as normal.
The Vulcan tour was amazing as it always is with MaPS (XM655 Maintenance and Preservation Society). They do an enormous amount of work to keep her in great condition, shame she doesn't fly but she does still fast taxy at least one day a year. Those huge Olympus 301 engines, 4 x 20,000lb of thrust = 80,000lb thrust, is an incredible noise during a fast taxy. I was told today that it gave, I think it was, 50,000 horsepower.
The engine was further developed for Concorde and also the TSR2, both variants with re-heat which the Vulcan variant did not have.

Fancy watching her thunder down a runway, go to http://www.xm655.com/events.php
