A Dane in Norway

The Cadillac of Viking ships.

Grey and rainy day, so perfect for a trip to the museum. This is the Gokstad ship, one of the best preserved boats and archaeologically speaking, the ultimate Viking ship. Fast and perfectly build for its purpose as a warship. My absolute favourit among the ship finds. Build in 890 AD and used as a burial ship about ten years later. Top speed: about 12 knots. Crew of about 35.
