St Nicholas Church, Chislehurst

Easter Sunday and we visited the church to see the displays of Easter Lilies in commeration of our departed loved ones.

The weather has been awful today, alternating between torrential rain; grey clouds and a cold wind, and then suddenly a brilliant blue sky and sunshine. Not the weather for doing country walking. Instead we walked around Chislehurst admiring some of the elegant houses in the conservation area and window gazing in the shops in Royal Parade.

Among other things, Chislehurst is known as the final home of the deposed emperor Napoleon 111 who came to England in 1871 having lost the Battle of Sedan. He lived at Camden Place until his death in 1873. Camden Place is now the clubhouse of Chislehurst golf club.
