Bambi.

Little Bambi here is dealing with an itch.
This morning we visited Beecraigs Country Park and were delighted to see that the red deer hinds had just recently had their calves. The calves were mostly lying down and well in the middle of the deer paddock, out of camera range. This little one, who shows the typically spotted coat, was near enough the fence to get a decent photo. The hinds were quite friendly (or a bit nosey). They all came up to the fence to check out Rona who, in turn, wanted to know a bit more about these deer creatures but she was too wary scared to get close.
The stags, on the other hand, were holding their own party in another field and were not in the slightest interested in us or Rona. Their antlers are already well grown but still covered in velvet (see MaggieD) There were some super hat racks antlers on display and there will probably be some interesting times come the rut in the autumn.
