When in Wales at Easter ....

.... Daffodils are obligatory.   And so are steam trains!

Talyllyn Railway No. 7 Tom Rolt steams into Rhydyronen station.  The lunchtime train taking us up to see Ruth who is assistant stationmaster at Abergynolwyn today.  This loco is a relatively recent build, resurrected during my lifetime from the remains of an Irish Peat Board loco by Talyllyn engineers.  When I was a boy we called the remains 'Irish Pete', the official name remembers LTC Rolt who was one of the pioneer volunteers who rescued the Talyllyn.  Rolt wrote 'Railway Adventure' an entertaining book about the first two years of the rescue of the railway.  He wrote many other titles on Railways and Canals and was the founder of the Inland Waterways Association.
