Single Green Female

She was on one of the big Viburnum bushes, which is a good place for a praying mantis to be. They flower over a long period, attracting all sorts of insects, and they provide good shelter in bad weather. I have not blipped this mantis before.

While I was looking at her a quick movement a few centimetres below caught my eye. It was an earwig trotting along, minding its own business. Suddenly, a small lizard dashed out from under a leaf, grabbed the earwig, and doubled back out of sight. It was so fast it made me gasp. When I looked back to the mantis I could no longer see her. You can see how much like the leaves she is. You can look right at her and not see her.
