I am here at the gate alone

Last year I joined the National Trust (E&W) so that I could visit lots of houses and gardens near my parents' house in Sussex. The ,membership runs out today, so I thought I would visit Threave Garden, one of the few NTS places near us.
It was bright but chilly, with patches of hail at the edges of the flowerbeds. Most of the daffodils were still in bud. But there was plenty to photograph. I particularly liked this gate, tucked away in a far corner of the garden. The plaque says "Gifted in memory of Matthew Mitchell, joiner (who made this gate)."
I was also pleased to hear chiffchaffs. My first ones this year :-)
