Wallasea Marina

Woke up to a lovely sunny morning and after a phone call from a friend we decided to go over to Wallasea.  Had a coffee at the marina, very pleasant and took this pic from the seawall.  You can catch a ferry over to Burnham which would take about 45 minutes if you had to drive. Also they do trips out to see the seals, both something we may do in the future.
We then went on to the RSPB Wallasea Island site.  In 2006, mudflats and saltmarsh were created by moving the seawall to allow the tide in and create Allfleets Marsh.  This was done by Defra to replace habitat lost elsewhere, and the RSPB now manages the marsh on Natural England's behalf.  In 2012 Crossrail began to import earth to the island from the new rail route under London.  The earth will raise the land level so They can create mudflats, saltmarsh and saline lagoons. Extra was taken at a distance of Little Egret
