Snapshots of my world

The river runs wild!

The flood waters of Boxing Day 2015 have long since subsided and left the Calder Valley, but the devastation of the waters continues to be etched along the river, the canal and in the town centres of Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge.

The canal was thick with mud on our stroll from Luddenden Foot to Hebden Bridge and the surrounding fields remain more like lakes! However, it was beautiful to feel the warmth of some sunshine as we walked :-) I always love a trip to Hebden Bridge, a place where everybody and anybody is always very welcome. Many of the shops are now back on their feet, others continue the recovery operation and pop up shops are helping businesses to make some, much needed, money whilst working on their properties. I bought a book for school called Nuddy Ned - I think they'll adore it and just couldn't resist. The story of a child who runs wild...in the nuddy!!!

We strolled back along the cycle path, as opposed to the canal, which was considerably less muddy!! The trees along the river bank are filled with plastic, litter and wood as a result of the flooding...and I don't think that is going to change any time soon!!

Happy Sunday Evening to you all :-)
